Welcome to Run for Your Life Colorado!

Do you remember getting a new pair of sneakers and just opening that shoe box and taking a big sniff of that new sneaker smell?  Now imagine not having a decent pair of sneakers to run and play in.  Imagine having only one pair of shoes because your family doesn’t have the money to buy you a good pair of sneakers.  Imagine not going out to run and play because you don’t want to ruin that one pair of shoes you do have.  Imagine that no one cared enough to help. We're Run for Your Life Colorado and we do care.

In Northern Colorado almost 15 percent of all children live below the poverty line, with their families struggling to meet daily needs.  There is no extra money for these families; there is no “new” pair of sneakers for these children.  As startling as this number is, it doubles to almost 30 percent if we add in the “working class poor” families in our community.   Run for Your Life Colorado finds a way to get these children sneakers so that they may run and feel free.

Colorado is considered one of the most fit and the least obese state in our nation.  However, our school age children have an obesity rate of 29 percent.  Childhood obesity is an epidemic.  Colorado's children get less than one hour of physical activity daily.  At Run for Your Life Colorado we believe the time to act is now.  Giving children the proper footwear to get up and get active is a step in the right direction.

Utilizing a volunteer workforce, Run for Your Life Colorado, collects new and lightly used sneakers for children at community running events and through bright yellow drop bins at our partner businesses.

We have partnered with the Healthy Kids Club, sponsored by Poudre Valley Health System, and together, with your help, we can help get the children of Northern Colorado active, and give them the tools to be healthy for a lifetime.
