Welcome to Run for Your Life Colorado!

Started in 2009, Run For Your Life Colorado was begun to help school age children-in-need take positive steps daily toward become more physically active by giving them running shoes.  However, with almost 7,500 children in Fort Collins and Larimer County living below the federal poverty line it can sometimes seem like an endless task trying to reach and help them all.  The number of children almost doubles if we add in those familes considered "working class poor".  But at Run For Your Life Colorado we love a challenge.

Colorado has the distinction of being the most fit state in our nation but our children are losing the health battle as we see childhood obesity and overweight rates of 50%.  At a time when schools are cutting programs like physical education classes, someone needs to take the lead in teaching our children about eating right, exercising  daily and taking positive steps at home and in their community.  That's what we’re doing at Run For Your Life Colorado.  As we said before we really love a challenge!

In 2011 we will be rolling out our first after school running program at Lopez Elementary in Fort Collins and look forward to the opportunity to develop programs in other schools.  We hope that you will help us continue our mission to make healthy kids a vital part of our future and childhood obesity a thing of the past.

Utilizing a volunteer workforce, Run for Your Life Colorado collects new and lightly used sneakers for children at community running events and through bright yellow drop bins at our partner businesses.

We are proud partners with the Healthy Kids Club, sponsored by Poudre Valley Health System, Runners Roost, and Northside Community Center working together to make sure every child in our community that wishes to gets the tools to be healthy for a lifetime
